2010 Illinois Summer Encampment:
What is it?
The 2010 Illinois Wing Summer Encampment will consist of 4 elements: The Basic Cadet Encampment (BASIC), The Advanced Training Squadron (ATS), The ILWG Communications School (COMMS) and the new First Responder School Flight (MED).
The BASIC and ATS are cadet encampments.
The COMMS and FRS Flight are cadet and senior encampments.
When is it?
The dates of the Encampment are 10 July through 17 July 2010. All Staff will be notified as to the date and time of their arrival at the encampment site.
Where is it?
The physical address is where the Encampment will be held. It is where cadets will report to on 10 July 2010. It is where the Pass and Review will be held.

Do NOT send any Summer Encampment application materials to Camp Lincoln or the Illinois Military Academy.
Who can attend?
Minimum Cadet grade for attendance is Airman -C/AMN, one stripe. (per CAPM 52-16)
The Encampment is limited to 172 cadets total, all elements.
Cadets in the Basic element get bed space priority.
IN 2008 we ran out of bed space two weeks prior the application deadline. In 2009 we had only a few beds left. APPLY EARLY.
Cadets who apply after we have maxed out our bed space will be placed on a space available list, first come first served.
Who can be on staff?
All Cadet and Senior Staffing is by application/invitation only. Application packets for Cadet and Senior Staff are on the website. Please note application deadline for some Staff positions are different.
All Staff applications must be received by the date indicated in the packet for that Staff position.
There is no walk-on staffing. Members who are not invited or who do not complete all required training prior to the start of the encampment will not be allowed to participate.
All Staff members (Cadet and Senior) must complete CPPT and RST and be on the CPPT/RST roster at THIS encampment to participate.
How do I apply?
All participants must apply per procedures outlined in the applications process for the Element they desire to participate in by the deadline in the application packet.
We are limited on bed space at the encampment site, so all available slots are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Only complete and accurate applications that contain full payment will be taken. Incomplete, unsigned packets, or packets missing payment or complete payment will be returned.
No partial payment will be accepted. Any applications received after 20 June 2010 will not be considered. No walk-ins will be accepted at the encampment.
ONLY compete, signed application materials with full payment received at the Summer Encampment Headquarters address will be considered.

Where do I mail my Application?
The Mailing Address for the Summer Encampment Headquarters is:

DO NOT send any Summer Encampment application materials through FEDEX, UPS or any other service that requires a signature to receive the packet. Use only First Class US Postal Service delivered to the Encampment Headquarters address.
ONLY compete, signed application materials with full payment received at the Summer Encampment Headquarters address will be considered.
Who Do I make Payment to?
The cost for all cadets in 2010 is $145.00.
Checks should be made out to the 2010 Illinois Wing Summer Encampment.
The Cadets first and last name and ID number should be printed in the MEMO section of the Check.
I can’t attend after I applied. Can I get a refund?
Refunds must be requested in writing or via email.
Requests received by 20 June 2010 will be honored with a refund of 100% of the encampment fee.
Requests received between 21 June 2010 and 1 July 2010 will be honored with a refund of 50% of the encampment fee.
Requests received on or after 1 July 2010 will not be honored.
How to I get to Encampment?
Transportation to and from encampment is the responsibility of the member. Commanders may, on an as-available basis, provide CAP vehicle or aircraft transportation. (Source: CAPR 52-16 Paragraph 5-5, b-1.)
Transportation to and from encampment may include car pooling with other cadets, parents driving, squadron commanders or group commanders driving, and cadets driving themselves. Check with your squadron commander and other members of your squadron regarding available options for transportation.
Cadets who drive POVs to encampment will not operate the POV while at the encampment. Upon arrival, they will turn in all car keys to the designated senior member, who will return the keys when cadets are dismissed. (Source: CAPR 52-16, Paragraph 5-5, b-2.)
The encampment staff will not be making any arrangements for transportation.
What is the food like at Encampment?
Meals are provided in the dining facility while you are at encampment. You will be served cafeteria style.
Please be sure to include any dietary restrictions on your Parental Consent Statement before mailing it in.
What do I pack?
A detailed packing list is available on the Summer Encampment web page. All items must be brought with you to encampment. You will not have an opportunity to purchase any items once you arrive at encampment.
How long is the Training Day?
The day will begin with Reveille at 0500 (5:00 AM) and end with Lights Out at 2100 (9:00 PM).
Will we be doing a lot of marching?
While at encampment, you will march to and from meals, classes, and other activities.
It is vital that your boots and shoes are well broken in before you arrive at encampment.
Will I be able to call home?
You will be allowed to call home using base phones. You will need a calling card to call home. Cell phones are not allowed at encampment.
